Loud

Anonymous, Newegg
23 April 2013
  • Summary: Dont buy Velociraptor drives if you want a silent pc.
  • Pros: The drive still works, it was fast for a hard drive. It is only the 74gb model which was only useful for speed.
  • Cons: Loud and almost impossible to stop the drive from making noise.

  • Cons: This is NOT a fast drive. Yeah, it's recert, but it has nothing to do with it, it runs fine. But it is not fast. WD640gb black AALS run faster than this. Let me explain: when you benchmark these drives, the actual read speeds of the velociraptor appears slightly higher (not much), but in real lif...

Great...When it works

Allyson A., Newegg

  • Summary: After I sent the replacement back for, well, another replacement, it arrived from Western Digital mounted backwards on its IcePack mounting frame which prevented me from being able to connect SATA cables.
  • Pros: Pretty fast performance drive, especially in a RAID setup.
  • Cons: I ordered a pair of these a while back and they worked great, until one started failing with constant read/write errors and freezes. After I RMA'd the problem drive, its replacement failed about 4 months later.
