Very Nice SATA Drives
30 July 2012
Summary: Excellent drive. I setup an HP DL380 G6 and wanted to use the expensive 10K SAS drives for boot, the less expensive SATA for storage - turns out these drives are very fast indeed. The RAID 5 array had no problem being built, ordering more. Great bargain.
Conclusion: For most of our “Final Thoughts” pages, coming up with a conclusion of sorts isn’t difficult. But it is with the VR 1TB. The reason is that while the drive is in a class of its own, and it the fastest mechanical drive ever produced, it’s not for everyone. It’s for those who demand the fastest mechanical storage possible, and need ample space. It’s quite that simple.
Summary: Length:: 0:25 Mins You want to pick between purchasing an SSD or an HDD? Here's a thought. If you just want fast access performance for programs and everyday computing I would suggest buying three or more Velociraptor hard drives. Yeah they are spinning mechanical HDD's but spin at 10,000 rpm's not 7200 or 5400 rpm's as your typical notebook or desktop HDD. You put them together in RAID 0 and you'll have fast access to all your programs and files.
Summary: The last Velociraptor 150GB lasted 3 1/2 years of hardcore PC gaming,so when it failed,I bought the exact same one(this drive) except 300GB,it seems to running well as my prvious Velociraptor always did.
Summary: Comparable to an SSD when setup in striped RAID0 array. I have 3 of these as my Windows 7 x64 system drive on an ASUS P7P55D Deluxe motherboard using the built-in RAID controller. Running the latest Passmark 7.0 hard disk performance test this RAID array scores a 2269.7 and the data transfer rate is over 300MB/Sec sustained for both sequential read and write tests. This is running up against interface speed limits.
Summary: I love this reptile. is just brutally quick and ultra reliable. a really cheap way of improve your pc if you can't afford an SSD or just need higher capacity (bigger raptor is 600gb. SSD is 512gb and price out of this universe, like 1k $$). really quiet for a 10k rpm. I mention his reliability?, never fail to me and I use it and abuse it. too bad that I can't get a velociraptor for my laptop.
Summary: I bought this HD after I had an OCZ SSD that unfortunately failed ... the write and read speeds are excellent compared to 7200 rpm but still far from SSD ... I am really very satisfied from this HD and recommend it for its reliability, performance, and price ... I gave it 5 stars compared to other HD of the same type (regular spin HD) but it could take 4 stars compared to SSD ...
Summary: I have got this HDD for gaming purposes: install and run games from it, like Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3. Load speed is really fast; I can tell because comparing to my friends (when playing together online) I always load first, and they have very very similar pcs than mine.
