Summary: This drive is much faster than the one that came with my desktop pc, so I use it as my primary. Several years later, still going strong, no issues at all, I wonder about some of the negative reviews, but I guess there are always a few bad units here and there. One more thing, my desktop is raid capable, but I refuse to try raid on my computer, too many risky issues, and with a 6 core pc with fast drive and plenty of memory, I don't need any more speed, my pc rarely slows...
FAST! and so far over a relatively long period, reliable in daily to multiple times a day on-off powerd situation

Summary: This drive is the "Hot Setup" for a boot up drive for an ageing desktop computer. We have an older ACER desktop which came with a "wear dated" 5200 RPM drive that started to flake out after a couple of yeas. I began to fear it would crash and refuse to start again so I replaced it with this one and moved all the operating software to it. It was like putting a new motor in a funky old oil burning clunker!
Summary: if you want your computer to respond like you see computers acting in all those movies with fancy screens and what nots, then you have no other choice but to get a raptor from western digital... they really are faster than ssd and cheaper for what you get... this Is a product that does not live up to the hype it exceeds it!!!
Conclusion: For most of our “Final Thoughts” pages, coming up with a conclusion of sorts isn’t difficult. But it is with the VR 1TB. The reason is that while the drive is in a class of its own, and it the fastest mechanical drive ever produced, it’s not for everyone. It’s for those who demand the fastest mechanical storage possible, and need ample space. It’s quite that simple.
