Summary: The HD in our old Windows XP testbed machine broke, so I needed an inexpensive/reliable replacement drive that was compatible with older technology. This drive was perfect, installed without any problems and it works well - impressed with the 8MB cache for such a low price.
Summary: I have HDDs from Hitachi, Seagate, White and Western Digital. I have never lost a WD. Neither Sata or Pata. I understand some folks have, but I like my WDs and have had no problems. The same can not be said for the other brands, except the Seagates. The deciding factor between them is price not satisfaction.
Summary: Have always liked Western Digital. This one went in my wife's older computer to surf the net and read email and doesn't need a large storage capacity fit the bill perfectly. Install was easy and all programs and mother board BIOS matched perfectly with no flaws. Fast, quiet, reliable, and a great bargain. Shipping was flawless!
