Excerpt: Granted, it's not IF your hard drive will crash, but WHEN...so make sure you're backed up! This drive was a replacement for my original Dell hard drive that was only 3 years old. It lasted less than 18 months from installation to crash.
Summary: Can't tell you if this is a good drive or not. It came with NO instructions! I got this from Santa this year...now I have to go pay someone to install it. Every other web-site that sells this item says straight out..."It comes with a fully tested PCB and a full set of instructions.
Freezes the computer when it starts to spin, otherwise it works fine.

Summary: I use an SSD as my primary OS drive. I wanted to use this WD Green as a secondary storage drive, but every time it wakes from sleep you can't do anything on your computer while it starts to spin.
Summary: I bought this about a year ago, and it started giving me trouble a few months into its use. I repartitioned it when I got it (as I do with all my drives), and it started complaining about misaligned sectors. No fix I could find worked, so I finally gave up.
Summary: I bought two of these drives, one for the OS and one for backup. This drive is not designed for a OS to reside on. The drive would lag bad, audio would stutter waiting for the drive. I even reinstalled my OS (Windows 7) thinking it was Windows, that did not help.
Summary: Worked well for 9 months, then crashed. It's the newest of my 3 hard drives. Good thing my data is backed up daily, too bad I'm out $162 (11/2012 price). Edit: So apparently Western Digital warranties this drive for 2 years from purchase date, so they're sending me a replacement.
Summary: I will not buy any other brand of hard drive. I have in excess of 20 hard drives that I have bought over the past 15 years. All of them are Western Digital. Even the 10.1gb drive that was my first, 15 years ago, is still working.
Summary: The unit I bought 6 months earlier had a 3-year warranty. The unit I just bought only has a 2-year warranty. In fact, the warranty is less than 2-years because it began 23 days before I purchased the drive.
I'm on my second drive in a month and this one failed too.

Summary: My iMac will not recognize the drive, nor will my PC. After several calls to WD Tech support, they determined the drive was defective and sent me a new drive. Same problem with the new one that arrived just yesterday ! Not a great confidence booster guys.
