Failing At 6 MONTHS

Summary: Always bought Western Digital until 2014 that has stopped. The 3 western digital hard drives I purchased in 2013 (1 to 2 tb) never made it to 2014! 3 drives fail in one year under low use is unforgivable. 2 green drives and 1 black of western digital, Grr.
Summary: I have two of these drives. One is still chugging along while the other failed last month. I spent a couple of weeks using TestDisk getting as much off it as possible (Windows could only see the boot or reserved section). Then I started the RMA process with WD. 15 days after they supposedly shipped the drive, it is still not here. I chose the 'advanced RMA' (they charge me money then ship the drive)thinking that it would speed things up.
Summary: one with i/o error and other with heads scraping platters loudly. 3TB greens I bought previously work great. Recognized in bios of 4 machines. No windows or linux 32 or 64 bit system can access either drive. Extremely disappointed and stuck with RMA and wait.
Summary: I have a Dell Dimension 8400. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The BIOS is A04 (old). The BIOS version is not suppossed to support hard drives in excess of 400 GB or so. Certainly not 500 GB. Unfortunately, the BIOS upgrades are not 64 bit compliant so I would have to do some work to upgrade the BIOS and it's not worth it right now. So, I ordered the 320 GB WD Green Drive with 32 MB Cache. A 500 GB version arrive instead so I thought I'd give it a shot.
BEWARE: A bad model packed in a in a "right" labeled box

Summary: I have the same problem with Amazon. Probably it is not Amzon's fault. It looks like errors of WD hard drive labeling. I bought this model: 2TB WD SATA II hard drive with 32MB Cash and 3 year warranty, Model WDBAAY0020HNC-NRSN. Amazon sent me: 2TB WD SATA III hard drive with 64MB Cash and 2 year warranty, Model WD20EARX. Although it looks better than my order, in reality the model WD20EARX has a very bad rate.
Summary: Bought the drive to replace an old failing Seagate. Quickly transferred the data before the Seagate died. I was transferring files when this one quit spinning and is now dead. Now I get to pay for intrusive data recovery because I was not able to do any backup between install and failure (a few hours). This "inexpensive" drive will end up costing hundreds in data recovery. Oh well.
