Summary: I just past my two year warranty on two of these drives that I got from NCIX. I've been running them 24/7 and have not had a problem with them or any WD drive. They are perfect for mass storage.
Pros: quiet, cool, reliable, low power consumption
Cons: none besides speed, but that's why there are black and red drives
Summary: I use two of these in RAID mirror. I have another 3 pairs also in RAID mirror in my mini server machine. I have had no problems with any of them. Then again i only turn on the box once a week or so, thus cannot comment on how these drives would be in a long term continuous use
Summary: This is WD's eco line of drives. They are very quiet and considering they have very low power requirements they are very fast. I got this one to put into an external enclosure that I will be connecting to my local cable co's DVR box.
Summary: I thought at first glance this would be a fantastic deal but I'm not going to take a chance with any 3TB HD -- because there are problems supporting more than 2.19TB. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/pc-peripheral/3258206/western-digital-caviar-green-3tb-review/ I'll just stick to great deals on 2TB drives, easier.
Pros: Seems like a great dead...
Cons: ...but if you are running Windows be prepared for issues.
Summary: Now the warranty is only 2 years for Green drives (previously 3 years), but Seagate offers only 1 year. I had to update 'Intel rapid storage manager' because the OS (Windows 7 Pro) only showed the disk as 746GB unit. I'm using it as secondary disk, mostly for backups.
Summary: Owned 2 of these for a couple years, never had any problems (with any WD drive actually). Price keeps dropping, fairly quiet & efficient. Slower than the red/black lines of drives but for the price a great deal.
