Summary: I use two of these in RAID mirror. I have another 3 pairs also in RAID mirror in my mini server machine. I have had no problems with any of them. Then again i only turn on the box once a week or so, thus cannot comment on how these drives would be in a long term continuous use
Summary: I bought this drive to backup all of my computers. It has so much space in it that I was able to put all of music, movies, pictures and space for all of the families backups. I would recommend this to anyone. I have 0 problems and I give it a big A+.
Summary: Just the past month I had 3 WD hdd died on me, all while My computer was on. They just disappears, and when I restarts, my computer can't get past bios or can't start windows. Had to remove them. Recover as much data as I can, because all of them listed as invalided when I pop them in external drives. WD drives from 2006(500gb),2007(640gb) and now 2008(750gb). I loved WD drives, so I had only WD drives in my PC.
Summary: It's a hard drive. It doesn't have to wow me, it just has to work. And so far, it does. My first HD was a Western Digital which failed after three years of daily use. I hope this one lasts just as long (and you'll be hearing about it here if it doesn't). It seems quiet, and I like the lower power drain. Doesn't seem to have any major performance hits or anything like that that you would expect from a "green" product.
