Andrew G., Newegg
30 January 2014
  • Summary: Used this hard drive for the main drive of an office PC for a local organization. They complained in the past their old hard drive was loud, so it was either get a 5400RPM or this.
  • Pros: -Intellipower is power-efficient
  • Cons: - None

okay driver

rakuten
31 October 2013
  • Summary: I bought two of these to put into a client's USB3.0 class Drobo S. There really isn't much to write. They fitted in, they store data. Exactly what I wanted. These aren't the fastest option, but they're a great choice when capacity at a great price is your goal, and this isn't exactly a speed-demon device anyway.

bad sectors

Zhou T., Newegg
6 June 2013
  • Pros: quiet, not expensive
  • Cons: The operating system usually crashes and I have to restore. Finally I found it had several bad sectors, I plan to send it back to WD and let them replace it, hopefully it is OK.

User Review

Richard H., Newegg
6 May 2013
  • Pros: Great Drive, bought three of these drives two for my kids machines and a one for a data backup. Drives are nice and fast for being the green setup, very quite which is great since the kids leave the machine on a lot also another reason for wanting the green drive.
  • Cons: not the fastest thing out there but speed is not a big thing when buying a green type drive.

nice bare drive

Aaron P., Newegg
1 April 2013
  • Summary: wanting to get a WD blue to use as a main drive instead.
  • Pros: this is a nice drive, I got it for a main drive (oops, did get the difference between green and blue at the time) but I have not had trouble from it yet (3 months). I am thinking about getting a wd blue just incase the green isn't made for it.
  • Cons: no problems yet

Lean green HDD machine!

Anesthesiologist, Amazon
28 February 2013
  • Summary: The Hard Drive came in a "bare bones" box. I installed it in my computer and it works flawlessly. Other western digital products I have purchased have been so far so good and I don't expect any different from this item. If anything negative occurs prematurely, I will surely inform everyone!

quiet, could be faster

Todd F., Newegg
30 December 2012
  • Summary: Going for 7200RPM for all drives in the future. What's the advantage of a 6G/s transfer speed if the rotation can't keep up with it?
  • Pros: This drive is quiet, and supposedly doesn't take a lot of power. Good to keep the electric bill down on a build that is on 24/7.
  • Cons: Slower than I'd expected. It's been a while since i bought a 5400RPM, and now I remember why.

  • Summary: Fast transfer speeds and quiet operation make this drive a great buy. This is my second WD Green drive and I would definitely buy another one when space demands it.

Quiet and priced right

Amazon Customer, Amazon
1 December 2012
  • Summary: I purchased 2 of these to set up in a raid-0 configuration. The frustatration-free packaging was nice, the drives are quiet and haven't quit yet, but I've only had them for 6 months. Definitely worth the price so far.
