Summary: I have 4 of these in RAID5 in a re-branded RAIDON enclosure. I'm not commenting on speed, as I didn't test the drives individually. In RAID5 write speeds are slower but that is just as likely to be the enclosure itself.
Pros: I know running green/eco drives in RAID is generally iffy, but I have 4 of these in RAID5 in a RAID enclosure and no problems so far. They run cool, even though they are in a tight box with nothing but a low speed 80mm fan. Also quiet.
Cons: Slight "click" whenever they spin down, but most HDDs will have that.
Summary: slower than the average hard drive, but that's due to its 5400rpm nature. I knew this when I bought it. it is just a media storage drive paired with a Samsung 850 pro for the operating system and games.
Pros: quiet operation, large capacity, easy install and setup.
Summary: I would not use this as a system disk, because performance is not good. It is appropriate for use where good performance is not required. I have two of these "green" drives. One is connected to a DVR. The other is in my main desktop for large data files and system backup (system disk is SSD).
Pros: This drive does run cool and quit, as advertised
Summary: WD drives are very reliable in my experience. I have a dinosaur of a PC running downstairs that has a seven year old HDD from WD as my boot drive, and I still haven't lost a sector or had a general hardware failure. Very impressed with this company's products in general.
Pros: I am using this to store my game collection. There have been no problems with bad sectors or hardware failure. The price on these now makes it even better.
Summary: Had good luck with EVERY other product bought from Newegg so this failure was a bit of a shock.
Pros: Right size for intended use.
Cons: Could not initialize disk. Kept getting data error cyclic redundancy check. Tried jumpering as spec'ed on WD site, continued to get error. Tried on several computers with several different sata controllers. Found several bad reviews scattered across web. Wish I'd found them sooner.
Pros: Once IntelliPower was disabled the drive has given me no issues what's so ever. It has been my primary movie and steam drive for a little over a year now and I really have no complaints. It's not meant to be a 7200rpm Velociraptor drive. The speed is enough for me and the price makes it all the m...
