Summary: My dedicated backup HDD, a 2 TB Samsung of unknown age, finally made death clicks. It was the last non WD drive I have out of three. Went 'green' because I don't need the speed/performance of a black, which is my main C:\ drive. This one is priced right, and with Prime, it was delivered on Memorial day, which really surprised me.
Summary: I purchased this drive to upgrade my HTPC from a WD Green 1.5 TB. There was a small issue with Windows 7 - I had to update the storage/AHCI driver so that this 3 TB unit was recognized properly. Otherwise installation was a snap and drive is running great. The Green drives sometime get mixed reviews but for large media storage applications my experience has been great - they run cool and quiet and do what they need to do.
Summary: I purchased this SATA drive to be used as a secondary drive in my new Dell Inspiron 660 Windows 8.1 desktop. I was previously familiar only with PATA drives in the old architecture of my XP PCs. When I opened my PC case, I was surprised to find the old ribbon connector that supported both master and slave drives gone. I then had to purchase a separate SATA cable (so that's what "bare" really entails!) to hook up the new drive.
Summary: I received this drive in a box with the tape cut and the anti static bag ripped open. Both of the two (new) drives I ordered were like that; it looked like a returned drive and I regret not sending it back immediately. I put it into my Linux machine to replace a failing drive and I started copying data to it and filled most of the drive over night.
