Summary: I chose this model, based on other positive Amazon reviews. I wanted a H.D. with a little more capacity and speed than the original Western Digital 320 GB one from Dec 2009 that had developed 42 MB of bad sectors on it. This computer was bought in late 2010, and I was disappointed that the H.D. was already failing after only 3.5 yrs. This was the first W.D. drive that has ever failed me. I still have ones from 2005 & 2006 that are still going strong! Replacing the H.D.
Summary: My customer's computer was hit by a significant surge during a power outage, and after that their factory-installed drive showed signs of failure... the drive started making noise (the death rattle) and would only properly boot with the PC 1 out of 3 times. I bought this drive and cloned the customer's hard drive to it, then I replaced it as the primary drive in the PC, and it works perfectly!
Summary: I bought this to replace a customer's failed Seagate drive (the Seagate was repeatedly failing CRC tests) - this drive not only worked for re-installing his Windows 7, and associated data/programs, my customer has not contacted since regarding any hard drive issues.
Summary: I've always liked Western Digital drives and prefer them over Seagate. I seem to get better throughput and performance and much better reliability with WD. I've been using this drive in a RAID array for about a month and everything looks good so far.
Works like a charm & got it from Amazon in 20 hours.

Summary: This is a Sata 3 HDD which I installed in a Sata 2 tower/mobo. I formatted it to a primary and did not install a jumper on pins 5/6 to slow it down to Sata 2 configuration. The bios fbund it immediately and I was on my way installing my os. Now the best part: I am an Amazon prime member and for 8.99 they got it to me on a Saturday just 20 hours after I ordered it. Join Prime - the benefits are excellent.
