Must have been a dud ...

Oboetooter, TigerDirect.com
7 August 2013
  • Summary: I have had good luck with Western Digital hard drives in the past. This one failed after about 50-100 hours of use. Unfortunately it was part of a kit, and I tossed the box it came in, so I may be up a creek as far as a replacement goes. Really disappointing.

Slower than the Stock

  • Summary: I replaced my stock HD with this one. It is noticeably slower than the stock - starting up the computer and opening applications takes longer.

Needs more cache

Joshua P. Luben, Amazon
24 May 2013
  • Summary: This hard drive performs okay for the occassional user. When compared to drives with 64mb of cache, you can feel the difference. For a cheap replacement, the economics work out fine, but probably not for much longer.

  • Summary: Normally I would never buy this drive, but with the recent raised of the hard disk drives price caused by the flooding in Thailand I simply could not afford bigger or faster (SSD) drive. It works ok, with reasonable performance and reasonable capacity, but clearly i do not have the feeling that I had for my money. Not at the price I paid for...
  • Pros: Works ok...
  • Cons: Capacity not so impressive compared to other drives., Price higher than it should be

Value Line hard drive .. Don't expect much

Candace Strickler, Amazon
15 January 2012
  • Summary: As a computer repair business owner I have to let customer demand limit my choices in inventory. I have purchasing the blue line for a few years now and have to say that reliability has been a huge issue. I have been buying WD drives since they used to have a 5 year warranty. Now it is either 1 or 2 years. You will only get about 25 months on one of these drives.

  • Summary: Good performing drive for the price. It's WD so no worries about reliability.
  • Pros: 7200 rotations per minute
  • Cons: its an entry level drive so its not very fast

  • Summary: This was partially my own issue on researching the product as I was upgrading my hard drive on our desk top. I've done this before but had always had a long ribbon cable for it not the SATA connection. This is a SATA drive which comes to you bare bones nothing but the hard drive. This took a lot of research to install this into the computer as well as a purchase of a SATA cable for another $7.
