4 Years and Just Died.. Caused Odd Problems

Nicholas H., Newegg
23 May 2015
  • Summary: Good buy if you just need something fast, but don't use it for anything that you would not want a backup to.
  • Pros: The drive was fast, and did not have any problems with it until the last day of it's life. It was pretty quick and I used it for my OS at first, and after I switched to ssd I used it for storage. A good drive.
  • Cons: When it died there was no warning, not like I was expecting any but guess I'm used to seeing sectors die and it give a few signs. Another huge con that might just be for me, but my computer would not fully boot up. Got past the windows screen and just stopped with a line across the top. Thought i...

  • Summary: This an older drive and I was worried about what I would get. I use a raid 5 network device to store backup copies of my important data. The 3rd drive in the RAID array failed, which was the same make and model of the drive I am reviewing, and I was running the RAID array in degraded mode which made...

  • Summary: I run a RAID system for redundancy on my home computer. Its a little slow but cheaper as a complete and instantly available backup. I wanted and exact duplicate model of HDD when a 4-year old HDD started dying. This was exact.

Not bad not great

michael l., Newegg
19 November 2014
  • Pros: Worked well speed was good, no problems until a few days ago.
  • Cons: Shorter life than I expect from a hard drive, Normally I would get more than 5 years from a hard drive this one lasted a little over 3 before dieing due to disk corruption and bad sectors. My computer does run 24/7 but even still they usually last longer or at least give some warning of impending...

Bought 3 drives, 2 have failed in 3 months

Jeffrey J., Newegg
11 November 2014
  • Summary: Our company is running some Dell T3500's. One of the original hard drives failed in it so we bought three of these; one to replace the failed drive and two more for "backups". We installed the first drive and it failed within about a month.
  • Pros: Relatively cheap if they didn't constantly fail
  • Cons: Out of the two drives we have used so far, both failed within about a month of use.
