Summary: The drive was very easy to install into the Tivo Roamio after a trip to Home Depot to get a Torx screwdriver. Because the Tivo subscription costs $500 and is linked to the unit, this is a very efficient way to increase the unit's storage capacity.
Summary: Just another customer who purchased this disk through Amazon and am pleased it serves as a great high-capacity replacement for the Roamio hard drive. (Three months' flawless disk performance, so far). As others note: the only daunting part of the installation was opening up the Roamio case. My tip: I used a thin nylon cooking spatula to safely push inward on each individual connecting hook, judiciously applying pressure to persuade each hook to release.
Summary: This 3 TB drive was an easy upgrade for my TiVo Roamio. Just removed the standard drive, installed the 3 TB drive, plugged in the network and power cables and an hour later everything was working. The TiVo automatically downloads the software, but you have to have it hard wired to the network, not WiFi.
Summary: The 500GB Tivo Roamio is the only Roamio that supports antenna TV, but the 500GB capacity gets eaten up quickly if you like to keep recordings for any length of time. We like to keep episodes of Sesame Street or other children's programs available all the time for our son. Installation was easy and the Roamio automatically formatted the drive once it was installed. Now I have 480 hrs of HD recording capacity, much more than I'll ever need.
Summary: This is exactly the hard drive that you want to purchase to upgrade your TiVo Roamio to a Pro. It was simple, open the TiVo up, unplug all the cables going into the hard drive, take the hard drive off the chassis, install the chassis onto the new hard drive and install it! Once you turn on your TiVo you will have to go through guided setup again. Note: I did have a problem with my cable card where it no longer was provisioned to show premium channels - I have Comcast.
Summary: Great improvement in recording time over the 500GB drive that came with the system. Be ready to do some formatting tricks to get the Linux operating system in the Revo DVR to recognize all 2800GB of usable space on the drive. At first it would only recognize 750GB and I was not happy. After a couple of tries at reformatting the drive using my PC the DVR saw all 2800GB. Not exactly plug and play as I had hoped.
