Did not work in my DVR

Summary: I have a SageTV multimedia system in my home. I put this into my SageTV Windows Home Server to upgrade the storage. I chose this HDD because of it's size and purported DVR/multimedia features. SageTV is a like a TIVO on steroids. My system can record 4 different HD video streams and playback to multiple locations (TV's and Computers). The streams are received via a silicon dust HDHomeRun.
Summary: I've used various HDDs in many years and never had any problems until I bought this one. Just as another reviewer described, at first everything was OK, the drive installed and was correctly identified by Windows 7. Then I left my PC to do the formatting which supposed to take a long time for a drive of such capacity. When I returned there was an error message that format failed and the disk has disappeared from the system forever.
Summary: I bought the WDC drive as a back-up drive for my HTPC. I understand that the price of this drive is phenomenal; at around 4p per GB the cost of storing all the movies and music on the PC is very cost effective especially as the collection grows daily. With Buffalo drives offering the same storage space for triple for price I knew the WDC 3TB hard drive wouldn't be sever spec but would be sufficient for monthly back-ups and light usage.
