DOA

mark m., Newegg
24 June 2011
  • Pros: None Yet To Review As I have not recieved it working for proper testing.
  • Cons: The Drive Arrived Dead showing 0.0MBs. As this is within a short period of the last review I raise the question if this is a bad batch of released hard-drives and is there adequate testing going on during manufacturing of this product.

First DOA HDD :(

Anonymous, Newegg
12 June 2011
  • Summary: Newegg makes you pay return shipping for DOA products... sigh
  • Pros: Runs very quiet. Great for HTPC or silent computing use in addition to a laptop replacement drive. Large cache to boot. Well packaged so no worries about damage in transit.
  • Cons: This is the first WD drive out of 7 that I've purchased that is DOA. Drive spins up but shows 0MB free space in both windows installation and on a windows PC. Can't format it or do anything at all. Must be a bad PCB or controller.

Excellent drive

Vincent B., Newegg
5 May 2011
  • Summary: I was so happy with this drive I picked up a second to stream music on the network using an old laptop. (may as well use it for something!)
  • Pros: I picked up this drive to upgrade the ps3 hdd. The transfer of data was smooth and the drive works great. To my surprise, i find that the extra cache makes the load times a bit snappier.. At least they feel like they're slightly faster than the stock drive...
  • Cons: No cons. Its a low power, low heat AV drive. It isn't going to out-perform a drive with a faster spindle, but the larger cache makes random hdd access a bit snappier.

Great laptop drive

Harry P., Newegg
9 April 2011
  • Summary: When the stock Hitachi started getting lots of bad sectors, I replaced it with this drive. I chose it because of low power requirement and large cache. It runs so cool I cannot detect any heat either on the palm rest above it or on the bottom of the laptop.
  • Pros: Very quiet, cool, and good performance. It really does take less power. A great laptop drive.
  • Cons: None.

this is great!

Daniel B., Newegg
20 February 2011
  • Summary: If you are looking the best ps3 harddrive look at the separate momentus xt. It's part ssd and part hard drive.
  • Pros: Using in my ps3 cause the added cashe helps things load faster then the actual rpms. Sounds weird but look it up the ps3 has some weird limitations and well this product is solid. Can handle more data and is almost silent.
  • Cons: None

works well enough

Anonymous, Newegg
3 July 2010
  • Pros: Seems a bit snappier on PS3 loads although not much loads from the hard drive anyway. Chose this over Scorpio Blue for supposed reliabilty and 32MB cache. Figured the cache would be useful.
  • Cons: none
