Wrong capacity shown in main picture

Brian Estelle, Amazon
17 June 2013
  • Summary: somehow this picture showing the TS32GPSD320 part number also shows it is a 128 GB drive. How they got the 2 in the same picture is amazing. What would I do with a 32 GB drive anyway. Needless to say I was shocked and dismayed when I received a 32 GB drive. Do not be taken in by the picture.

Transcend 32GB SSD, 2.5- IDE MLC

anonymous 3, Amazon
26 April 2012
  • Summary: Will probably have to return this product to Amazon. It does not appear to be compatible with Toshiba Satellite 1135. The product worked when connected to a IDE-to-USB adapter but not when connected to the internal IDE interface (bios error 0200, Fixed disk failure).

Unable to use as a boot drive

Who?, Amazon
15 March 2012
  • Summary: I ordered the drive to use as a replacement for the old HDD in my Compaq Presario R3000 (circa 2004). The laptop will not recognise the SSD when configured by default as 'Master', i.e., the BIOS reports drive failure. If I change the jumper to 'Slave', the BIOS sees the disk fine.

Stable but slow

Evan Thomas Kaiser, Amazon
16 February 2012
  • Summary: I bought this SSD for my Dell Inspiron 8600 (2GHz Dothan Pentium-M, 2GB PC2700 DDR memory)work laptop, since I was tired of hard drive failure after hard drive failure. While this SSD hasn't had any failures, I can't say I've been happy with it.

  • Cons: SSD always freeze the web browser and media player in every few seconds. Write slower than HDD.

Not for XP

S Tenent "Sam", Amazon
24 March 2011
  • Summary: I bought this drive to put in an older Thinkpad T42P that I use primarily for casual web browsing (email, news, etc). I disabled every unnecessary start-up program and process I could identify and the boot times are great - about 30 seconds to the login window and another 30 after login to load...

Great for a week...

Anonymous, Newegg
24 March 2010
  • Summary: I wouldn't recommend an SSD for IDE laptops, but they're amazing for SATA laptops...due to the bottleneck on older (IDE) laptops SSD's are pointless and a waste of money when you can get a great hard drive with a lot more storage for a fraction of the price.
  • Pros: -Improved boot time, application opening, battery life and overall operation -Worked with OS X Leopard brilliantly and gave my 12-inch powerbook G4 a great boost! -Very, very quiet...loved that the most about this drive!
  • Cons: -Obviously price to hard drive size ratio -Would stall and sometimes freeze when I woke my powerbook g4 up from sleep mode...and from time to time I would have to force a restart by holding down the power button -The drive died after a week of operation...when I woke my laptop up, it froze and wo...

solid, but very slow write speeds

Evan K., Newegg
28 January 2010
  • Summary: I'm using this on an older laptop, but it's hard to believe how slow this is compared to the several hard drives I've also used in the system. It takes a long, long time to get completely into the Windows XP desktop to a point where it's actually responsive (well over 3 minutes after POST...
  • Pros: Solid state, IDE interface for older machines.
  • Cons: The write speeds on this are VERY poor, and, in general, it's a lot more sluggish than I would expect an SSD to be, on reads as well as writes.

No real change in performance for me

Kenneth W., Newegg
19 July 2009
  • Summary: I have two other older HP laptops I plan on testing the SSD in. I did not expect miracles because I believe the bottle neck is the CPU in this case. One of the other older laptops I have has a 3Ghz Pentium processor in it and I expect it might do better.
  • Pros: I replaced a Hitachi “Travelstar” 60GB 5400RPM ATA/IDE in a Compaq V4000 with 1GB RAM and a 1.8GHz Pentium M processor. I cloned the old drive with “Casper XP” without issue and set the jumper on the new drive as the IDE master and the system booted just fine. I have not had any “freezing” as som...
  • Cons: I have not seen any dramatic improvement in boot time or application starting. Old drive speed test: DISKSPEED (C) Alexander Grigoriev, alegr@aha.ru Test File: "c:\$$test$$.tst" Test File Size: 64 MB Testing Uncached New File Write Speed.... Data Transfer: 11.48 MB/s, CPU Load: 5.9% Testing Uncac...
