Going to need help

Bob E., Amazon
30 January 2014
  • Summary: Still fighting to get my HP Win7 laptop to recognize the drive. Have them installed in Bergtek 2.5 in. USB3 enclosures. Appears I am just not smart enough. At this point nothing was automatic.

Not as good as it should be.

Worth, Amazon
13 January 2014
  • Summary: I have been replacing the hard drives in my computers as they start to fail. I bought this thinking I would save a few bucks but have been a bit disappointed. It runs much slower than I expected. I replaced another a few months back and bought a Intel brand with very similar specs.

Beware! No way to update firmware on Mac OS or Linux

Guillermo Amaral "gamaral", Amazon
12 January 2014
  • Summary: I can't seem to find a way around having Windows in order to update this damn drive. The documentation says I can do it from Mac OS by booting to a Linux image they supply (USB_LINUX.dmg), but I can't find it anywhere! [...

Good price, however doesn't include parts for laptop installation

WM, Amazon
8 December 2013
  • Summary: This SSD kit does not include a spacer that will allow it to fit securely in a laptop drive bay designed for 9.5 mm thick drives. Transcend support states such an item is not available, a disappointment as fitting it will be a challenge now.

Good drive, NO Tech support

RODGER P., Newegg
4 November 2013
  • Summary: Because of the lack of tech support for this product I can NOT recommend this drive. My first SSD drive was a OCZ 128GB drive, and I got tech support from them! Unfortunately I out grew that drive and had to upgrade.
  • Pros: At the time that I purchased this drive it was fairly high on the Hard Drive Benchmarks (It has come down substantially since then). The drive was a good price for its size. The drive also came with cloning software to move my OS from my current, and outgrown 128GB, SSD to the new Transcend drive.
  • Cons: My biggest complaint about this drive is the lack of Tech support from Transcend. I attempted to update the firmware on the drive. Transcend's software recognizes the drive, but will not upgrade the firmware. I sent Transcend an email to their tech support department within a week of ownership, b...

Can't Update Firmware

Peter, Amazon
8 December 2012
  • Summary: Transcend concedes that these SSDs shipped with bugged firmware. They posted that you need only connect it via SATA and run a firmware update. They forgot to say the motherboard needs to have AHCI driver capability, which my Vista era desktop pc's mobo doesn't have.

Great drive, Weak support website

John, Amazon
8 November 2012
  • Summary: Bought this on Black Friday deal, got a really good price so I am happy with the product. Though, I have spent many hours figuring out support for the product myself. My drive arrived with v5.0.2 firmware (old firmware, current is 5.0.4).

Be careful if you have a Macbook - It may only negotiate at SATA 1 (1.5Gbit/s) speeds

C. Medlin, Amazon
14 September 2012
  • Summary: I bought this to put in my late 2009 macbook (Macbook 6,1). Unfortunately it will only link at SATA 1 speed of 1.5Gbit/s even though my computer is capable of SATA 2 (3Gbit/s) speeds. I exhausted all resources trying to find a fix from the OS side to no avail.

SoSo, Amazon
21 August 2012
  • Summary: I tried the ssd today. did a testing on reading and writing. It's about 200mb/s read and 164mb/s writing. The advertised speed says 500mbs read and write, I barely got half? What happen, this is sata 3 technology they using. I should of got the OCZ.
