Ran great for a few days then died

James B., Newegg
  • Summary: Be aware that there is a real difference between buying from Newegg and buying from a Marketplace Seller. That is particularly true of the ease of return. I emailed the seller as per instructions on the Newegg site and got an automated response from Newegg that I would hear within 48 hours.
  • Pros: I installed the drive in an old (2005) HP laptop running Windows 7, and it really perked it up substantially. Installation was quite easy, as was cloning.
  • Cons: Unfortunately, less than a week in, the drive simply died. None of my other machines would recognize it, and neither would the Windows 7 installation disk. It was toast.

Replacement SSD works well

Andrew H., Newegg
14 September 2015
  • Summary: The first one worked so well with a WinXP install that I bought a second one so I could experiment w/a Linux install. Both work fine so far.
  • Pros: works great in Compaq n620c laptop; fast; uses less power than conventional HD; formats just like a conventional HD; easily recognized & formatted by both WinXP and Linux (Debian 8) install CDs; in use for a few weeks & works great so far
  • Cons: none so far other than item seems pricey, but, you get what you pay for so hopefully it'll out-last a magnetic media drive

Excellent upgrade for a HP Pavilion DV1000

Wolvedger, Amazon
27 July 2015
  • Summary: Used to upgrade a HP Pavilion DV1000. This drive dropped right in after transferring the adapter from the old HDD to this one and making sure the jumpers matched. Loading Windows 7 onto it was trouble free (upgraded to 4GB RAM and 2.1GHz processor a while back) and then I loaded the few programs I...

Works great in a 2004 Gateway M320X laptop

M. J. Bernadett, Amazon
24 June 2015
  • Summary: With 1.2G of RAM and running Win XP, this old laptop is now more responsive and boots faster than my 8-Core i7 running Win7. We use the old Gateway outdoors at dusty MTB race venues to time the races and print results - this drive is perfect for that.

Excellent drive - used to repair an Agilent Vector Network ...

Anthony Kos, Amazon
24 April 2015
  • Summary: Excellent drive - used to repair an Agilent Vector Network Analyzer (very high dollar-amount piece of equipment > $80K, running WinXP). However, one annoying feature - a jumper installed in the 44 pin connector interfered with installation and had to be removed.

So far so good! I have not had this up and running ...

Daniel Aguilar, Amazon
7 April 2015
  • Summary: So far so good! I have not had this up and running for long so I hesitate to rate it 5 stars for that reason. I work well and does make the HP laptop much more enjoyable to use. Faster boots. Working well. Happy with my purchase so far!
