Summary: I bought this drive as secondary drive for Dell Latitude E6400. The drive thickness did not fit in to the secondary bay. Also notice when tested with exteranal connector the drive was very noisy.
Pros: I don't have any pros to list as I could not use it for below reasons.
Summary: Keep in mind, if you buy this, its thicker than smaller capacity drives, make sure your laptop has room for it.
Pros: Cheap, large capacity
Cons: Since installing my machine has been plagued by odd issues. The biggest was repeated corruption of data files; particulary the search index. I tried two fresh installs. I tried all manner of drivers and settings and nothing made it any better. Eventually I did a fresh install on a different disk ...
Summary: It was a good deal for its price, but now having to pay for another brand at an additional cost removes any cost efficiency initially realized by this price/capacity/form factor combination.
Pros: 1TB capacity in a small form factor. Even at 12.5mm it still fit perfectly in a 13" Mac Book Pro. No issues with read/write speeds.
Cons: I ordered this on 10/22/2010 and on 11/28/2010 it failed. This puts it just beyond the 30-day warranty that Newegg provides by default. It's not Newegg's fault, but they should be aware of substandard products like this.
Cons: This product is not a standard 2.5" form factor drive, it is about a third thicker than a standard 2.5" drive and will NOT fit in most computers or external enclosures designed for 2.5" drives. Newegg should CLEARLY warn customers of this.
Summary: Obviously these things can happen but... Installed in my MacBook Unibody well enough but failed within a month of use. Thank Mac for Time Machine! Will pay slightly more the the Western Digital Blue next time - never had trouble with these in the past - my advice - avoid or back-up your data...
