Summary: Running on a 2 drive Win 8.1 Update 1 system, "Modern" (ha) interface bypassed. I bought this drive a few months ago, to be the bulk app and game store to my main OS SSD. It is fast, relatively quiet, with games and apps alike running off it without problem and at a good speed. So good in fact I might treat myself again at Christmas. I'm actually wondering with this speed and performance why I spent a fortune on an SSD. Buy one!

Summary: I ordered one of these for my rig as HDD storage in January and it has been working flawlessly. Saw it on sale for $79.99 this week(July 28) and decided to get another one. You can never have too much space.... Well, the second one arrived DOA. I was sold on Toshiba / Hitachi's reliability by the study I'd seen posted at The Tech Report here http://techreport.com/news/25940/hard-drive-reliability-study-names-names Toshiba owns Hitachi and the HDK line are the same...
Pros: Great and affordable. Reliable. Nice price (On sale for $79.99)
Summary: I think there are some serious QA issues with these drives. On the last shipment 3 out if 4 where DOA. Amazon replaced them fast. On the previous order 1 out of 4 had bad sectors out of the box. That's obviously a very high percentage. We have used WD up until this point without a single failed drive. Have about 30 of them. We switched for our new raids for price and compatibility. WD don't perform as well as these Toshiba in a raid environment.
Summary: Works very well - is NAS attached to the Airport Extreme by Apple. Does its job, had to reboot every couple weeks - but that could be the External Hard Drive enclosure's controller board / USB connection to your PC, and so on. Toshiba does a good job with these sorts of things, though...
Excerpt: I bought this drive as a cold spare for my Pegasus2 storage system. The price was very good for the capacity. Because it is a spare it will sit on my shelf and will be used only if there is a drive failure in my Pegasus2 unit.
Summary: Had a drive crash on my NAS. Because this was eligible for Amazon Prime, I had another drive in and running in two days. Months later, it's still running fine, and hopefully will be for a long time to come.
