Summary: I used this to replace a fried drive in an Alienware m17 R1 that I repaired for a friend. As near as I could tell, this is the same drive the manufacturer used, but perhaps a year or two different vintage. It worked fine. Note, the original drive lasted about 4-5 years with no issues.
Lasted 2.5 years. Just a year or two shy of acceptable.

Summary: This review is fairly short. The drive was a good price and purchased late december 2011. Today, near july 2014, 2 years and 7 months later, my sister calls me asking me about hard drive replacement because hers is broken. Yes it was placed in a laptop, so more jostling.
Summary: I'm going to try another one just for the sake of keeping my system uniform. Hopefully this one won't crash so soon. I can't stress enough the need for a backup.
Pros: Runs fairly quiet and low power consumption on Mac
Cons: Mysterious I/O Errors and freeze ups after a little over 2 years service. Caused numerous file transfer crashes. SMART reports the drive as ok but it started making clunking noises and caused my system to freeze in 15 minute cycles. Check of the logs showed I/O errors at the same time of the free...
Summary: I've been using this for just over a month and it's great a lot of space for a great price. The one I bought is refurb and I still got a warranty on it. Like I said it works good so far. It's very quiet as well.
