Summary: I installed the 320-GB version of this drive into an HP G72 Laptop, everything Was working fine for about 4 or 5 days - - - - Then the Drive started making squealing Sounds and would no longer boot! No Boot Found! This is the second bad experience that I have had with Seagate this year. I bought one of their expensive 2-TB Hybrid drives at the beginning of this year and it was defective right OUT OF THE BOX!
Summary: The good: fast shipping. drive was packed neatly in bubble wrap and anti static bag. installed easily. The bad: makes a click and beep / whine noise. makes it pretty frequently and regardless if the system is idle or active. updated my drivers and ran multiple diagnostics including Seagates own SeaTools and nothing gives an error. Win7 home premium and all updates installed, in a Toshiba Satellite L455-S5009.
Summary: I've gone through 2 of these in under a year. They both ran loud and they both failed on me well before they should have. The warranty isn't competitive with other HDD manufacturers and quite frankly their product isn't either. These HDD's were absolutely terrible and I won't be purchasing another product from Seagate ever again.
Failing within 2nd day of use. Total failure within 3 days use.

Summary: I'm sorry Seagate, but you messed this one up big time. I've done all I could've done, and within half a week of use it's making a high pitched whine and clunking (aka searching for a sector and can't find it, and resetting.) This is an item you make, see it fail, and pull from the market so no one makes the mistake of buying again. I should have read the other reviews, but it turned out to be no different at all.
Summary: I never had a lot of problem with seagate hdds. Of course, they do fail in 4~5 years. But, this one failed in 2 months. And I gave it a one more try, then it failed again in 2 months. Ok, I'll get a warranty replace. Let's see how it goes.
Failed drive after 1 month, all replacements have failed as well

Summary: Purchased the drive brand new for my Dell laptop. Within one month the drive began "clicking" intermittently, each time causing my machine to completely lock up and freeze while it happened. At first I thought the problem would go away, but it progressively got worse and worse until I finally had to return the drive. RMA is not free - you need to either pay for them to mail you a box and a shipping label, or pack it yourself.
Summary: As a frequent buyer of hard drives from various suppliers decided this time to try the manufacturer direct mainly to secure 3 to 5 years warranty or at least 2 years. They stocked the hard drive I needed but the link sent me to a third party on Amazon. The drive arrived within two days in a padded envelope and failed within minutes of initialising.
