Summary: I am not sure why everyone raves about how fast this drive is. I have seen no performance increase over my old, standard platter drive. I understand this is hybrid, not SSD, but there should be some measurable difference. It is significantly more noisey however. Actually, all of this is not relevant because the drive only lasted 10 months. The compujter will not recognize it, the drive simply "clicks" when powered on.
Summary: cheap and fast, this hard drive works great, been almost a year and hasn't failed on me since. If your hard drive is failing, you are probably doing something wrong and should not be messing around with computers.
Summary: I purchased this for an older ThinkPad that was having some Windows problems. Inexpensive and plenty of storage for my purposes. I created 2 partitions, 1 for the OS, and the other for data. Boot time decreased from minutes to seconds. This dual core machine now boots Windows 7 in about 30 seconds. An SSD would be nice, but a 500GB SSD currently costs more than the computer is worth, so the $65 I paid for this was well worth the $$$.
Summary: Installed this in my DV6 HP laptop with no prob, bolts right on the HD case already there. Speeds have increased DRAMATICALLY of the original standard HD. My laptop does seem to run alittle hotter though (already an issue with DV6's). After I loaded windows to it, I was left with 486GB free for all my stuff. Not bad at all.
Excerpt: I had a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro that was getting slower and slower. Took forever to boot up. And even started to "hang up" regularly while I was working. After installing this drive, it's back up and being zippy. I thought I was going to have to buy a new computer which would have cost me thousands of dollars. Now with this cheap drive, I've added a least a couple more years to it's life! I'm thrilled with it!
Summary: Most of my clients want more drive space than 120GB, and they really want the faster hard drive speed, so here is a solution which givees both at a reasonable price.
Pros: These hybrid drives are great for laptops. Generally speaking laptops do not require the large hard drive you would want on your desktop, and you want the speed of an SSD. Well, here, you can it your way.
Cons: I really wish the caching routines could be better programmed. The access speed could be enhanced it they could be accessed by preset utility.
Summary: In general Newegg has considerably improved hard drive packaging over the years. Years ago I limited my purchasing of hard drive from Newegg to only personal, because I could not count on the drive not being damaged in shipping. Today, Newegg packages 3.5 inch drives in packaging that meets or exceeds HP spec. Having made this packaging change, the last 30 C3s I purchased from Newegg install in my work servers without issue.
Pros: Great drives. Put one in a HP EliteBook 8530W and another in an ASUS Laptop (K55A). Both install without issue. Drive work as described and improve boot times considerable. Much faster than standard 72K drive but not quite SSD speed. Over performance improvement is good.
