Summary: Like many newer drives (especially Seagate and WD) this drive has an excessive APM configuration of 128. Anything below 250 is generally unacceptable, and most drives, like NAS/RAID drives, are set at 255 (which is disabled APM.
Pros: Most inexpensive 4TB drive.
Cons: Quiet* when not "parking/loading" heads, which it does every 60 seconds.
Cons: I purchased 4 of these drives. One drive was DOA, and was RMA'd to Newegg for replacement. Another began emitting a high-pitched sqeal and then died. RMA'd to Newegg again for replacement. And yet another has recently begun to generate errors during use. Ran through seatools and drive was full of errors. Have RMA'd *that* drive to manufacturer. Not great guys.
Summary: Ordered five. All five DOA. Four wouldn't get past POST, with stop errors preventing POST from succeeding. One did get past POST but then threw I/O errors in Windows when trying to initalize. All of them made the same spin up, tick tick, spin down noise. Classic borked drive noises. Ordered five more from another supplier, after returning these (which I've yet to hear back on). All turned up and went in without a single problem.
