Does its job, and does it well

Blake London, Amazon
19 January 2014
  • Summary: This hhd does its jobs perfectly. It's not terribly fast but I've had no problem playing games on it and storing all of my files. I can't leave out that I ordered the 500gb version and received a 250gb version.

Good

Nicholas D., Newegg
16 December 2013
  • Pros: It's lasted 2 years and it's still going. Great for mainstream PC users, but not for enthusiasts.
  • Cons: Not the quickest but definitely up to par. USB 3.0/3.1 will render this unit obsolete due to data transfer speeds. SSD is the future, invest in a decent SSD and buy more in the future as you need them.

Works great

George C., Newegg
27 October 2013
  • Summary: I've had no issues with this hard drive. It's been discontinued at this point, so why am I leaving a review?
  • Pros: Works perfectly. Quick enough access for me.
  • Cons: 90 day warranty. If it weren't for the 90 day warranty, I would have rated it 5 stars. I think a 6 month warranty would be way more fair. My unit is fine with no problems, but a 90 day warranty is a joke.

DOA

Jan W., Newegg
23 July 2013
  • Summary: Bummer the refurb hdd from Seagate was dead on arrival, ended up spending 65 on a new one of same size and geared specifically for av systems by Western Digital. I've gotten other electronics that were refurbished that worked for years just fine, but in the case of hdd's?
  • Pros: Good price.
  • Cons: Got this for dvr (security cams, not tv). Dvr unit didn't recognize hdd, so unable to format or use. Since the dvr unit was new wasn't sure if it wasn't the dvr or hdd. Purchased a WD av-gp 500 gb hdd (new not refurb) and dropped it in dvr, was recognized immediately and was able to format in les...

  • Cons: SATA II. Not really a con, but it is noticeably slower than a WD blue 500gb

Works Like A Champ

Bubbalynch, Amazon
11 January 2013
  • Summary: Pros: This has been a good hard drive for me, very reliable so far. - SATA II - Low power consumption - Plenty of storage as an OS drive - Relatively quite performance Cons: Not too many cons I can think of on this, which I'm pleased about to say the least.

Mine Works Like A Champ...

Fleming L., Newegg
6 January 2013
  • Summary: I did not get this drive from Newegg. I traded a friend of mine an old PC case for it that he wanted. After formatting, I tested the drive with SeaTools and Crystal Disk Info and it passed both with no errors. My drives power on count was about 60 so it hadn't been used too much.
  • Pros: This has been a good hard drive for me, very reliable so far. - SATA II - Low power consumption - Plenty of storage as an OS drive - Relatively quite performance
  • Cons: Not too many cons I can think of on this, which I'm pleased about to say the least. - Only 5900 RPM - Only average read/write speeds - Other reviews about this product worry me

Died after about a year

Tom, Amazon
14 December 2012
  • Summary: It wasnt the fastest drive (slower than the original internal drive that came in my directv dvr), so the overall dvr user experience was annoying. I'd push a button on the remote, wait a couple of seconds, push it again and then 2-3 seconds later it'd do two actions at the same time.
