Summary: Based on a successful previous order of two of these drives from Amazon I ordered a third drive. Once received the drive was installed only to find that it registered itself in Device Manager as a ST3500DMZ-1BD142. Amazon overnight shipped a replacement. Once received and opened I found the same situation, instead of a ST3500641AS-RK the box marked ST3500641AS-RK actually held a ST3500DMZ-1BD142 a duplication of the first situation.
Summary: I installed this in my computer about 14 months ago and have not had any problems with it. This was the first hard drive I've ever installed. The process seemed less complicated than what I had read prior to ordering. Installation didn't result in any problems. I didn't know exactly what to expect. I finally noticed that the new hard drive was listed when I clicked on 'My Computer', appearing as "Backup (D:)".
Summary: i was surprised to learn that this is one of their green drives. despite that, it seems to perform perfectly. My husband installed it without to much difficulty and everything seems to work fast and great.
Summary: I have an i7 3770K and 16gigs of ram. I purchased this HDD to replace a 1tb SATA3 7200 drive that went bad(Hitachi). The boot time actually increased from 25seconds to a little over a minute. I even enabled quick boot in the bios and made sure start up programs were at a bare minimum. Still no improvement in start up time. That's a HUGE increase in boot time. Other than that the drive has been humming along without issues so far.
Summary: I bought this drive to replace the stock 80Gb drive that came on the bigger model of the PlayStation 3 and it worked wonderfully. It takes a little while for installation but totally worth the wait and not mention the space.
