Great Bargain

Ed Levy, rakuten
19 August 2010
  • Summary: This is a great bargain. Worked very well right from the start. Is it the BEST around--no. Is it the best around for the dollar I think so. Plus anytime you can work with Buy.Com so much the better.

What's all the complaining about??

Digelectric, Amazon
20 May 2010
  • Summary: Loud?? The complainers must have really sensitive ears, this is the quietest drive I've ever owned. I can't tell it's accessing data unless I look at the flashing light on the outside of my case. The drive installed flawlessly. The drive is a real fast one, too, it's noticably faster than any I've used in the past. Basically, you expect a hard drive to perform right out of the box, and this one does!

Great Hard Drive

Overstock
20 February 2010
  • Summary: I have had only good experiences with Seagate Barracuda Hard Drives and this is no exception, it is fast, quiet and with a lot of space, so if you are looking for a good deal (gigabyte per dollar) this is your choice, you won't be disappointed.

Good Drive Value for HP MediaSmart Servers

Daniel A. Aunspach, Amazon
16 February 2010
  • Summary: I bought two of these drives for my HP MediaSmart Home Server model EX495. Packaging and shipping were excellent. These drives appear to be the exact model currently shipped with the HP MediaSmart EX495 Home Server. HP EX495 1.5TB Mediasmart Home Server ( Black) Both installed in about a minute without a hitch. I added them to the server storage pool with one click in the MediaSmart configuration application, and they have been running quietly and reliably ever since.

  • Summary: As 'Matthew from Pullman, WA' said it just works. I popped it into my MacPro in seconds and bam, over. Made an icon, named it. Over and out. Very good hard-drive. Never realized how much i needed more space until i got this.

Good Drive, Great Value

Matthew, rakuten
4 May 2009
  • Summary: It just works. Took seconds to install (that's more thanks to the Mac Pro I put it in...). There's nothing to complain about here. the drive works exactly as expected. It's quiet and doesn't add any significant heat to the machine. It is exactly what I have come to expect from Seagate. I'll be purchasing more of these as they are needed. Thanks to Seagate, and thanks to Buy.com for carrying the product.

Great drive - super deal

Fred, rakuten
22 February 2009
  • Summary: 1.5 tb, formatted is around 1.25. I have three of these running in a RAID system and have had no trouble. Great drive with super capacity for the price. I've read reviews of people having trouble with these drives and some of the earlier models did have a firmware issue. None of my drives purchased online since 01-JAN-09 had the old firmware. Seagate has a utility on their web site where you can check and if needed upgrade the firmware.
