Summary: Yes, I know I'm ranting about drives no longer sold, but my ST3000DM001 are busy failing in my WHS 2011, and ima gonna whine about it. (next review.)
Pros: First inexpensive 1.5 tb drives.
Cons: You get what you pay for, apparently. I had over 6 of these, and the 1 tb version in a WHS v1. All failed within few years, a few in warranty, most just outside it Only one gave me a SMART warning, the rest just stopped working, although I was able to clear most of them off before they totally fa...
Pros: It worked for a while...if you can consider that a "pro".
Cons: The first one lasted a few months... then it quit and I got a new one of the same model as an exchange...I should have just returned it. It took about a year before it started having hiccups...then staggered on for another 3 or so years before finally blowing up completely. Seagate lost my busine...
Summary: Lasted 5 -6 months then started the dreaded click of death. Contacted Seagate who promptly sent me a drive that got lost, after showing them proof of it being lost, never heard from them, again. I now have a 1.5 TB paper weight. Not to mention the failure takes your data with it.
Pros: Good price, decent preformance.
Cons: LASTED 6 MONTHS THEN DIED! Unreliable, click of death
Cons: New drive after couple months started to have that click noise and won't start up. Got RMA with a "recertified drive" from Seagate with bad sectors. That RMA drive failed after two years and I lost all my data. Seagate sucks!
Summary: This drive has been on a babied PC with little use. Wimpy drive... I hope there's some warranty still left on it!
Pros: Up and running right out of the box. SMART recognized and playing nice.
Cons: I bought the drive months back but it's in a PC that I have only used a handful of times. The disk has spun for a maximum of 100 hours and now it's dying : "SMART Status BAD, Backup and Replace" Tried reinstalling Win7 on it. Same error.
Summary: VERY DISAPPOINTED. 4 DRIVES FAILING AFTER 2000 HRS POWER ON TIME, 929 POWER ON COUNT
Cons: DO NOT BUY THESE DRIVES IF YOU INTEND TO USE THEM IN A RAID! I'VE PURCHASED 8 OF THESE DRIVES AND USED 4 IN A RAID AND AFTER 2000 HRS THEY ARE ALL BAD AND FAILING. I SET UP A RAID 10 HOPING TO NOT LOOSE IMPORTANT DATA USING THESE DRIVES AND SHOULD HAVE OPTED FOR A BETTER DRIVE. USING THEM FOR A S...
