Summary: This unit was purchased for use in an external 4=bay enclosure. It has performed to the standard I have come to expect from Seagate. The price was lower than all the standard electronics/computer hardware sites (Newegg, Tiger Direct, etc.), and came in good packaging for protection. I am well satisfied with this purchase.
I cannot tell if it is my NAS (synology diskstation) ...

Summary: I cannot tell if it is my NAS (synology diskstation) or these drives, but the system is DOG SLOW. i don't really care as it's more warm storage for me and my family. They're large, they are quiet, and they don't give off too much heat. How far we have come with technology, eh? would buy again, for the exact same reasons i bought them this time. I'd never use this in anything but a server - but i boot from SSD, so what do i know.
Summary: Works great in my Synology DS1512+. I used it to replace a dead ST3000DM001. I went with the non NAS drives to start because they weren't out yet. As drives die I'll replace them with this. I didn't notice any performance difference, or really any difference at all. An extra 20-30 dollars for a different firmware seems a little steep to me. Other than that the drive works just fine.
Summary: Four drives purchased for a new QNAP RAID and installed carefully using ESD workstation. System powered by a brand new APC Back-UPS 1300. One drive reported 128 bad blocks after a couple of days and returned. Replacement drive failed after about three weeks. I can't recommend the reliability of these drives.
Summary: Bought two of these. One worked well (5 starts). The other one died in less than a day (1 star). Amazon shipped a replacement that I received the next day (5 stars to Amazon). The replacement is working well (5 stars). Averaging all these stars we get 4 stars.
Took a USPS Beating and Keeps on Reading (and Writing)

Summary: I must say I was doubtful this drive would work based on how it was delivered to my home. The drive, in its anti-static bag, was placed in a large and thin bubble envelope and shipped. No extra protection was provided for the drive. Examining the bubble envelope I found some puncture points and small rips. The envelope had taken a hard beating from the USPS because no where did the vendor indicate this was a fragile shipment.
Summary: This is a relatively quiet drive compared to the various WD and Seagate consumer class hard drives in this price range. It runs cooler than most drives I've owned, but you do need a decent fan in your case to keep it within operational specs. The drive came in a padded envelope with no additional over-wrap, and I am worried that there will be hidden damage sometime down the line.
Decent enough drive for my NAS - but not too sure about the vibration dampening

Summary: I installed this Seagate NAS drive (the 3 TB version) in my Synology DiskStation. Although the drive is new enough that it is not on Synology's compatibility list, all seems to be working just fine. The drive is very quiet but it does have a bit more resonance in the case than I expected. I thought with the NASWorks touted on this drive that vibrations were supposed to be dampened.
