Excerpt: I won't believe the marketing hype that this drive is somehow better than their standard Barracuda drives until they've run in my environment for a few years. For now, the only reason to buy this drive is the longer warranty, which is welcome.
Summary: This unit was purchased for use in an external 4=bay enclosure. It has performed to the standard I have come to expect from Seagate. The price was lower than all the standard electronics/computer hardware sites (Newegg, Tiger Direct, etc.), and came in good packaging for protection.
Summary: I remember buying 5 of these on a black friday years ago. 4 In a ds413j. 1 for back up. Amazing, no drives have failed yet. I wish the prices will drop below $90 again though. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-23-14 09:31 PM
Summary: Four drives purchased for a new QNAP RAID and installed carefully using ESD workstation. System powered by a brand new APC Back-UPS 1300. One drive reported 128 bad blocks after a couple of days and returned. Replacement drive failed after about three weeks.
Summary: Bought two of these. One worked well (5 starts). The other one died in less than a day (1 star). Amazon shipped a replacement that I received the next day (5 stars to Amazon). The replacement is working well (5 stars). Averaging all these stars we get 4 stars.
Summary: This is a relatively quiet drive compared to the various WD and Seagate consumer class hard drives in this price range. It runs cooler than most drives I've owned, but you do need a decent fan in your case to keep it within operational specs.
Decent enough drive for my NAS - but not too sure about the vibration dampening

Summary: I installed this Seagate NAS drive (the 3 TB version) in my Synology DiskStation. Although the drive is new enough that it is not on Synology's compatibility list, all seems to be working just fine. The drive is very quiet but it does have a bit more resonance in the case than I expected.
