Combo purchase worked out well

David K., Newegg
30 December 2015
  • Pros: I ordered these as a combo deal of 4 drives. They all arrived in individual boxes wrapped in a static bag and an air padding sleeve. The individual boxes were in a larger box as well (so well protected). All had no errors in SMART data inititally. After a weekend of burn-in and repeated full disk...
  • Cons: Wish these were 7200 RPM but at 5900 RPM it's better than 5400 RPM drives.

NAS drive works so far without issue

Andrew N., Newegg
15 October 2015
  • Pros: Performance, capacity, power, heat, etc. are good at this price point. I have three of these in R5 now on an LSI card. Will add another for spare when the price comes down or a promo is offered. Went from R1 to R5 without issue though it took over 24 Hrs (data foot print dependent I know ;). Have...
  • Cons: none of the drives I have purchased thus far have the cool new label shown on NewEgg's product page LOL ;) Could have a longer 5-year warranty, three years is a bit lean.

Good drives

Thinh N., Newegg
2 October 2015
  • Summary: I was skeptical, but Newegg offered $40 off of 2 drives combo. I bought two 3tb drives. Kudos to Newegg for packaging the drives. Newegg wraps each drive in a custom bubble wrap inside a box, snugly fit the drive. For sure this custom packaging will greatly protect the drive during shipping.
  • Pros: Quiet and cool, fast enough for NAS use.
  • Cons: None

one drive failed with smart errors

Mark R., Newegg
27 September 2015
  • Summary: I seldom have to give such a poor review as I research everything I buy to death but this drive was dead out of the box.
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: I stopped buying Seagate drives 10 years ago for this exact reason, high failure rate. I purchased 2 of these drives for my new NAS because Newegg was offering a good price for the nas if you bundle it with these drives. One out of two failed with SMART errors. I have no faith in Seagate but I am...

Put four of these in QNAP NAS

David S., Newegg
2 September 2015
  • Summary: I sent the bad disk back to Newegg along with the Seagate utility report confirming the disk as defective. The return was no-hassle and I received the replacement drive about one week later.
  • Pros: Lower RPMs keep them cool in the NAS. Price was nice for a 3TB at the time I purchased them. Running 3 in a RAID 5 with a 4th drive as online spare.
  • Cons: One of three was defective right away; the NAS was OK with read/write but very slow and the SMART output was bad. Downloaded Seagate's disk utility and it confirmed the disk was bad.

Great Products and Excellent Customer Service.

Josh, Amazon
26 August 2015
  • Summary: I've been a fan of Seagate for years. Over a decade ago i had a multiple Western Digital drives fail on me and switched to Seagate. It's hard to guess exactly how many Seagate drives I've owned over the years but between desktops, laptops, external drives, HTPC's, NAS, i'd guess it's 75+ easy.
