Summary: Ok, I've been using Seagate drives for more than 15 years. They never let me down and I was happy (until recently). I even still have a couple of barracudas from 2004 (more than 10 years). Looks like the good story ends. I bought 3 1.5TB drives to use them in NAS. 1 drive started to move bad sectots, bough 4 WD 2TB drives and installed them in NAS. 3 Barracudas went into my desktop in RAID5. Very soon one failed and was sent for warranty exchange.
Summary: I can see the hard drive at the Bios level, but not at the windows level - bios says it running and doing fine, but windows 8 says it can't see it - can't even see the drive to reformat it! UHG...
Excerpt: It was my favorite brand and i still have 3 internal HDDs and 1 external. All old and working. But this one I have bought worked only for two days. Immediately after installation I have noticed that windows became very slow, than I tried to use seagate tools for windows (I have win 8) and it showed me "compatibility issues" and installation failed. Hm, great support isn't it? I downloaded DOS version and it shows me a lot of mistakes.
Summary: The Seagate hard drives are known to be really bad after the floods. I gambled and got a DOA drive. I shouldn't have tried it because now I have to pay for return shipping. Don't ever buy a Seagate hard drive until they can revive their production standards.
Summary: This drive failed after 16 months with low usage. it was only used for backups once a month. Noticed bad sectors after checking disk with CrystalDiskInfo (recommended) A disappointment with the drive failing 4 months after warranty expired.
Summary: This hard drive was misrepresented. It had a lot of problems from day one, and when I contacted Seagate support the drive I received from the seller turned out to be a repackaged external drive that was not supposed to be resold. It may have been used and/or refurbished. I had to return the drive because it quit working.
Summary: I bought this in March 2014 as the disk in my Netgear NAS started reporting errors, I didn't install it immediately but waited until the count increased, I think it was April/May 2014. It is now August 2014 and it is starting to report errors already, it is still working but this is not good and I suspect I will have to replace this disk within the next few months. The trouble is how do you prove it is faulty to return it if it is actually working.
