Summary: This drive failed after 16 months with low usage. it was only used for backups once a month. Noticed bad sectors after checking disk with CrystalDiskInfo (recommended) A disappointment with the drive failing 4 months after warranty expired.
Pros: Fast. Large manufacturer with pretty good history. Good RMA process with advanced replacement option for nominal cost ($10).
Cons: Terribly unreliable. Two doa drives so far for us. Almost 20 with a business partner of ours. When they lowered their warranty to one year, it said it all. That is how much they believe in their own drives.
Summary: The Seagate hard drives are known to be really bad after the floods. I gambled and got a DOA drive. I shouldn't have tried it because now I have to pay for return shipping. Don't ever buy a Seagate hard drive until they can revive their production standards.
Summary: Had the drive for 4 months before it completely failed. Not even recognised by 3 other PC,s when fitted internally or externally vis enclosure or cradle. Steer well away. They have told me that my personnel data will still be on the platters and accessable and advised I destroy the drive to protect my data. Not even a replacement to be sent without me sending the old one. So much for a warrenty then. Very disappointed.....
