Summary: I have reinstalled this for the last time and am shopping for a new drive. I verified I bought this drive on Newegg in Nov of 2014 and it has been trouble since then. This time, I created an image of the SSD after the last failure and reinstall.
Pros: Respectable company, good product history with me.
Cons: Many, many. This drive just continues to fail. It is my fault I have not replaced it yet. It failed again. Windows functions just stop. USB stopped, access to wireless config didn't work, etc. It is like there are dropout areas or failing areas on the drive.
Summary: All these problems were on my Lenovo Ideapad u310. I have 2 other brands of SSDs in laptops at home and both work fine. The seagate 600 240 was the most expensive and the worst performer. I am going to try another brand ssd and see how it does in this laptop.
Pros: This was cheap to buy, company has a good reputation.
Cons: The drive has failed and needed to be re-installed 3x. I have recovered it with windows recovery disks more than 6 times in addition to the re-installs. Last re-install didn't go that great and I need to get a new ssd drive for the next time this one fails. I used diskwizard. The image I made fro...
Summary: Partitioning and configuration was 4K aligned. Given this premature failure, I'm highly concerned as to the viability of the second drive. I have preferred only a couple brands of SSD and Seagate was one of them. I will need to re-evaluate any future purchases of this line of SSDs.
Pros: When it worked - it worked extremely well.
Cons: Purchased two (2) of these at the same time (120GB version) - very end of January. They were being operated in a RAID mirror to ensure that if a drive failed - that the other would have a copy (also doing additional backups). Due to the nature of the failure, one of the drives has failed in such ...
Pros: Works great....for 2 weeks Balanced weight distribution means it flies far when thrown.
Cons: Installed in Feb, bricked by March. Warranty replacement came in (took 3 weeks!)...installed warranty replacement...Bricked again. I will NOT be pursuing further replacement. Buying a Samsung SSD now...
Summary: I did call Seagate and was very disappointed, I was told by a representative the the drive, while new would have to be replaced. I was then told that if I were to use the warranty I would be sent a refurbished drive not a new one excatly like that.
