Features

The Seagate Savvio 10K.4 Enterprise is a hard disk drive that is designed 70 percent smaller than 3.5-inch drives. It consumes up to 50 percent less power while doubling performance (IOPS/watt) and is a RoHS compliant device. The Seagate Savvio 10K.4 Enterprise also allows more drives per system for optimized performance density and redundancy and allows more space than 3.5-inch drives to add memory and to cool processors in systems. The unit is also available with Secure Encryption features such as data-at-rest security and is ideal for mainstream enterprise NAS, SAN and DAS storage arrays. Other features on the unit include PowerChoice™ for T10-compliant power management, which empowers IT organizations to tailor systems for performance and power consumption; Protection Information (PI) option which detects corruption of data in flight between the host system and the drive; head ramp load/unload feature for device handling reliability and TCG-compliant, Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) security option (SAS models only) which eliminates the need to overwrite or physically destroy drives, enables safe return of drives for warranty or expired lease purposes, and allows organizations to securely repurpose or sell hard drives; and allows OEMs and system designers to design external storage solutions for organizations with green IT strategies, data-at-rest concerns, and power- or space-constrained IT environments.
