Excerpt: This used to be a great product when it was the only choice. I will not recommend this product unless you plan not to move it around. Laptop computer should not be made with cheap material and especially not with parts that move in order to operate. Solid state drives are my choice.
Summary: I ordered a new hard drive, and the one I received crashed and burned within a day. The day of installation I started receiving a series of kernel stop errors (SE Code 0X0000007A), then the thing went dead. At that point, an HP system diagnostic returned the message "Hard disk does not exist." Total junk.
Summary: I purchased this drive for my son's laptop on March 22. I arrived in the mail on the 29th. It failed in early September, but I couldn't get it from my son until late September. I notified the company on September 23 that it had failed in the warranty period. They said "Its out of warranty". They did nothing. It didn't fail out of the warranty period, I notified them 1 day after the period. I pointed out that even my notification was within 6 months of receiving it.
Summary: This one let me install windows then started beeping and wouldn't be recognized anymore. Lasted a day I've had really good luck with drives other drives from Amazon's Warehouse deals, but this one was a lemon. In fact I just noticed that all my other drives from Amazon's Warehouse deals are WD types. Blue, Black and even a green. They are all still working great for months now. I'm not pushing them, just stating the facts.
Summary: I really hate to give a Seagate product a bad review, but I purchased 2 of these on September 12, 2012, installed one two days later and used the other as a bootable clone drive for disaster recovery purposes, using SuperDuper. The installed one failed June 22. No warning. My clone was about one month out of date, but I swapped them and am now up and running. Will order another and seek a warranty replacement, but still disappointed in its short life.
Summary: Good hard drive and well worth the cost. However i wouldnt recommend using crucial. I paid for 2 day shipping which was not honored, i called and was assured that my shipping would be refunded; it was not. When the hard drive finally arrived 4 days later i found it in my apartment building lobby, opened, and with the wrong address on the postage. Rather than deal with customer 'service' again i decided to keep the hard drive which i have had no problems with.
Summary: I feel cheated by NCIX. I ordered this drive, and as an open box product, but the hard drive is "re-certified" NCIX did not say this drive was recertified before I made the purchase, i believed i was purchasing a new hard drive, not something that has already failed and has been repaired.
