Excerpt: This used to be a great product when it was the only choice. I will not recommend this product unless you plan not to move it around. Laptop computer should not be made with cheap material and especially not with parts that move in order to operate. Solid state drives are my choice.
Pros: I BOUGHT A SEAGATE HDD BECAUSE THEY ARE SO RESILIENT, MINE IS PROOF, IT WAS SHIPPED TERRIBLY AND STILL WORKS.
Cons: I have been a long time lover of Newegg! I have bought a variety of goodies over the years, hard drives, video cards, etc.. I'm writing about my most recent Newegg experience to warn others of the terrible road Newegg is now embarking on. My most recent order was a 1 terabyte Seagate 2.5" internal hard drive to upgrade my PS3. Now the terrible part begins, the box used for shipping was 6 times larger than the HDD box and NO PACKING material was used. It was literally ...
Summary: Good hard drive and well worth the cost. However i wouldnt recommend using crucial. I paid for 2 day shipping which was not honored, i called and was assured that my shipping would be refunded; it was not. When the hard drive finally arrived 4 days later i found it in my apartment building lobby, opened, and with the wrong address on the postage. Rather than deal with customer 'service' again i decided to keep the hard drive which i have had no problems with.
Summary: I feel cheated by NCIX. I ordered this drive, and as an open box product, but the hard drive is "re-certified" NCIX did not say this drive was recertified before I made the purchase, i believed i was purchasing a new hard drive, not something that has already failed and has been repaired.
Summary: CP specs state this is compatible with my mid 2010 Macbookpro 7.1, but it is not. I found this out after taking the computer and drive to the Apple store. OK, it's not so much CP specs that are wrong as the Apple folk took some time before coming up with the problem. Not all, but SOME of the 2010 systems with 2.4Ghz were never intended to use a 1Tb drive, and that means the OS will not mount properly.
Summary: purchased an internal hard drive less then three months ago. grey screen today. contacted support and i get a link to deal with the manufacturer. no support and its not their problem, i exceeded my days of help or exchange or return, its my problem now.
