Summary: Pulled a smaller 7200rpm drive out of an enclosure to use in a system as a boot drive, replaced it with this. don't need random access in a usb drive, this was an obvious choice. big, quiet, low power, fast sequentials, exactly what i needed.
Pros: cheap, slim (7mm), 500gb, good sequential speeds, low power usage
Summary: Great product. Box did not bring any instructions, but it is fairly easy to change a hard drive. You can find plenty of tutorial videos online too. It is very quiet and has worked well. It is not the fastest hard drive out there, but you'll have plenty of memory.
Summary: I needed to upgrade the storage on my 2008 MacBook and this Seagate has been performing flawlessly for over 6 months now. Due to the faster rotation speed than the standard Apple drive a slight performance increase is seen but at the expense of more drive noise. I can't say for certain but I think that my battery life is also reduced since installing this drive but that would seem to make sense given the faster rotation speed.
Summary: My original OEM hard drive crashed. I found this unit to be just a few dollars more than the cost of replacement with the same size hard drive. I upgraded and tripled my drive capacity. This drive is also much quieter than the OEM Seagate from DELL.
Summary: Have one running in an old HP 6910p and have had no problems at all with it - it is loaded with Linux (Zorin 6.1) and just works fine. I have the other installed in an HP 18" dual-drive laptop running Fedora 18/64, giving me over 1.5 TB on a laptop. Neither has given me problems - runs no hotter than any other 7200 rpm drive and seems to be quiet (the 6910p has the drive under the palm rest, and i can't hear it running. Good product, good price and happy I bought two!
