New HD for mid-2011 MacBook
Ryan Maring, Amazon
17 April 2013
Summary: Install was pretty easy. Had to stop at Apple Store to have them install fresh copy of iLife and Mountain Lion but other than that I was able to do it myself. I am not technical at all. Great price and hope it continues to perform well.
Summary: This Drive was installed as a replacement for a 320GB Drive for my PS3 Phat (itself a replacement for the stock 80GB Drive)& has been utterly trouble-free. The install was straightforward & after formatting the Drive & reloading my data from a large thumb drive I found I lost zero data.I chose this Drive because I understand that this is about the largest capacity HD the current generation of playstation can handle reliably & it runs @ the stock RPM.
Summary: I was torn between this and the Western Digital equivalent. I have the WD in my laptop and it seems to be a reliable, quiet drive, but I did read a few reviews saying that PS3 games can freeze for a split second or so with the that drive. I'm not sure how true it is, but I didn't want to take that chance. So I went with the Seagate. Installation to the PS3 couldn't have been easier. Just remove the screw from the bottom, then the door, pop out the old HDD, swap.
Summary: Chose 4 because I'm not sure what else a hard drive is supposed to do except for be a hard drive. I bought it to upgrade our PS3 12G. If you are doing the same, you will also need to get the caddy which holds it in place. Incidentally, if you are upgrading your PS3 12G, it is as simple as slotting the new HD into the side - almost like putting a cd into the drive.
Summary: A good drive that was bought to up-grade my sons 80Gb PS3 (Fat model). It doesn't seem to have the issue of judder or slow response that some people describe. The installation wasn't exactly plug and play; in the end it took 7 hours. The main reason for this was you need to back-up the old drive onto another memory device ~~ which needs to be formatted to "FAT" ~~ if you don't have a large external HD or you don't know what "FAT" is - don't start until you do.
Summary: Purchased this to replace the 160GB in my PS3. Backed up my original drive via a USB external, then installed the new drive. At this point I got a firmware error on the PS3. In order to complete the install I had to visit the Playstation website and download the latest firmware (3.55 at time of writing).
Summary: I'm happy enough with this seagate hard drive. I purchased it to upgrade my 60 gb hard drive on my PS3, I now have acres of space on my Ps3 to download any games/expansions without being constrained by a lack of available space. The process itself to change the hard drive on the pS3 was simplicity itself.
Great hard drive upgrade for MacBook Pro 15 inch (4,1)
8 June 2010
Summary: This hard drive is excellent value. East to fit into my MacBook Pro 15 inch laptop (4,1). It is very quiet in operation and I have had no problems whatsoever. Used SuperDuper to clone old hard drive and followed instructions available on YouTube.
