Summary: Twenty years ago Seagate made the best drives then their quality went down as well as warranty. Warranty used to be five years on all their drives. So last several years WD drives had been much better. Now it seems all the manufacturers are selling drives that are cheap in more ways then one. WD Black and Enterprise level drives are ones which the manufacturers actually will have warranties of five years which leads me finally to these drives. Very large cache - 128meg.
Summary: I have an XServe1,1, from late 2006. I've been looking to upgrade the original 75GB drive that shipped with it, and discovered that the drive sled is limited to a 1.5GB/s throughput, making new 6GB/s drives incompatible, even after messing with the jumpers. The newer drive sleds are more compatible, but this is the original that shipped with it.
Summary: It's a 2TB Seagate Constellation, what else is there to say? Seagate makes a great product and they stand behind it. The purchase was simple and painless, but that's all Amazon Prime. :) Love the prime.
Pros: Bought 2, after 30 days + both are running flawlessly (knock on something). Their performance matches the rest of my new system (Okay. they're slower than the SSD boot-drive but that's not at all unexpected)
Summary: Installed easily, Was recognized by system when I brought it up. It formatted correctly and I was able to restore a bootable partition from a NAS backup successfully. No just need to see how long it lasts.
