  • Summary: Did not work with ASUSTeK Computer INC. RAMPAGE III BLACK EDITION Rev 1.xx & Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601). Detected by BIOS (I think), but not windows. I thought enterprise HDD's were supposed to be super reliable.

They are spinning nicely and quietly

  • Summary: So far, I have nothing to complain about when it comes to these drives. They are spinning nicely and quietly. Seagate makes some very nice drives. I have been using their drives for well over 15 years now. I do prefer the enterprise line of Seagate drives as they are the only drives approved for use with enterprise grade RAID controllers (see card mfg supported lists).

has continued to be a good solution for enterprise data storage needs

  • Summary: Over the years the quality of Seagate's consumer hard drives has declined precipitously, but despite their inability to produce affordable and reliable consumer hard drives Seagate's enterprise line, most notably the Constellation series, has continued to be a good solution for enterprise data storage needs.

Decent for a 7.2K spinner

  • Summary: I swore off Seagate drives years ago due to their issues but needed a pair of cheap 1TB drives [picked them up on a great sale]. Running in raid1 with RST and somewhat disappointed they are not faster for having 128MB of cache. They are also fairly noisy with the usual head grinding when doing seeks. 5 year warrant is a plus and enterprise are more robust so failures are much less then consumer drives. They run fairy cool with active cooling.
