Summary: Keep getting corrupt sectors and now the MFT is gone. Had to use Data Recovery to extract my data. Even though i can soft repair and reformat the drive, i dont consider it reliable anymore. I bought this drive in Oct 2012 and its already out-of-warranty in Jan 2014. If you dont want to throw away your $100, don't buy this drive. Thats not right! Very disappointed!
Summary: The online backup vendor Backblaze has released their drive failure statistics recently, and they corroborate my personal experience: two Seagate Green 1.5TB, two failures within a year (you can google the report for more details and information on better products) The newer Seagate drives don't fare that much better, but the 1.5TB has incredibly high failure rates, and coud possibly be the worst drive made in the past 10 years (I won't say "worst drive ever" because I'm...
Summary: I just wanted to share my experience with the potential customers here. I had two of these hard drives set up with a mirroring RAID on my machine for 9 months. After I routinely updated my BIOS they suddenly vanished. I connected them to two other healthy computers, impossible to even see them. I then did some research on the Internet and it looks like a lot of these drives have had major similar issues and apparently their support is ignoring most of the claims.
Summary: I purchased this for a computer I custom built and I've never had an issue with it's performance. I generally use that computer as a giant storage facility for my massive music library and 1.5 Tb definitely does the trick.
Summary: Not as fast as some drives, but the price is right. Plenty fast to serve video and audio. It is the noisiest component in my PC, so I will be getting another boot drive, and using this as a backup so it's not on all the time.
