The server is an extremely dirty prep room setting in a plant nursery

Summary: Very reasonable price, and very basic. Purchased two of these, one as a replacement and one as a spare, for a customer's RAID array. The server is an extremely dirty prep room setting in a plant nursery. That makes the RAID array imperative along with backup operations for key files. These drives are the perfect vehicle for creating the necessary redundancy on that system. Plug and play for reasonably priced and adequately performing hard drives.
Summary: I build custom PCs and this look like a good deal to keep cost down for a friend. the drive arrived to my shock it wasn't factory pack and i used many of seagate barracudas, so I went ahead and put it on a test bed and the power protection would shut down, I tested it on another pc and the system would shut down with in 2 seconds.
Summary: Was able to get this faster then asking Dell for parts and at 1/2 the cost. Dell typically has the same label except with a Dell logo and the statement about only Dell certified parts will keep the warranty intact, the warranty expired a couple of months ago so no sense in paying an extra $100 for a commodity disk drive.
Summary: The drive I purchased from AMTECH is as described: a new drive in manufacturer's packaging. But the picture of the drive showed it in an HP tray (for MSA2000 series storage array). Speaking with AMTECH, I learned that Amazon supplies the pictures.
Summary: I bought this drive for one reason: I needed to replace a failed hard drive in a low-end network server's RAID, and this drive is identical to the still working drive (as well as to the one that failed). Predictably enough, the drive works well, and the server's performance is back to normal. Given the age of the server, I'd say that the performance is about as good as it can be, but that has more to do with the RAID controller than the drives attached to it.
