Summary: not the fastest or largest drive by todays standards but more then sufficiant for the tasks. purchased this drive for my daughters PC. Nothing special just a simple drive to get things running. can't complain about seagate... only had 1 drive fail out of 8 drives I have purchased.
Summary: The Barracuda 7200.12 500GB is a decent sized HDD that comes in at a great price point. Performance is fairly standard, for a HDD. For a new rig, I'd recommend this drive for mass storage but not as a boot device.
Summary: This hard disk has a compact design, which allows for better air flow and cooling from front case fans. Hard disks, being volatile used to have three to five year warranties, but now this one is sold with only a one year warranty, which reflects poorly on its reliability. That, and higher prices since the flood of the factories in Thailand, stop this drive from receiving full marks.
Summary: I've used dozens of these in budget builds. Great drives - never had a DOA one yet, and to be honest, actually haven't had one die on me either. Only problem is that the warranty on Seagate drives was cut short recently during the whole flood in Thailand thing. Oh well.
Pros: Price is good, reliability is OK, and speed is not bad.
