Summary: It sure seems to me that for consumer-grade drives, one of the vendors should come up with a 'NO it's not working right, here it is limping, but here is the data we CAN recover from it' mode.
Pros: reasonable price, SEEMED TO BE reputable manufacturer (one of my customers) Taught me a lesson
Cons: Just died after very very light use. Won't spin up 1/2 of the time, will spin and then won't be recognized. It was partitioned and had multiple sets of family-important data. Reminds me now why CD/DVD/Cloud and redundant backup are important for images and documents. Disk drives, mechanical or SD...
Summary: I guess I will replace the drive with an SSD.
Pros: Worked well for a while. Decently fast for a HDD.
Cons: I bought this hard drive new from Newegg for a build for my mother in 2011. She mainly uses the machine for web browsing and email. This hard drive has now crashed in 2015 and it must be replaced. I expected more from a name brand such as Seagate.
Summary: - Mechanical whine is only very slight after all this time. Hardly audible at more than six inches away. - For some reason unknowable reason, Windows will not recognize this as an install option during OS installation.
Pros: I bought this HDD in summer of 2009, almost 6 years ago. It's never been anything but fully satisfactory. It's still running in my computer right now.
Summary: Great hard drive it is quiet has loads of space does everything and anything you would need a hard drive to do. The shipping was fast and it was packaged very well and safely. I would recommend this to anyone.
Summary: Amazon you did great on the purchase. It is this company whom I do not like. As I ordered a new hard drive for my computer, I was sent a used one. Not happy at all. I had to go to Best Buy to get what I wanted which was new.
