Summary: I used to use Seagate drives exclusively for their reliability and longevity. This drive was DOA and 2 more identical drives failed right after this one was sent back. I have now switched to WD & Hitachi for my drives.
Summary: I bought this drive to replace the puny 120GB one in my DVR. The Seagate 1TB is the largest one that can be recognized by the DVR but it still gives me a great improvement in recording capacity. The drive is very fast, extremely quiet, no vibration and runs nice and cool. I took a chance on a refurbished drive, but so far it is working flawlessly.
Summary: A one year life span is all I got out of mine. It did have a two year warranty and Seagate's website is helpful in diagnosing problems and getting RMA started. The SMART feature on my motherboard picked up the failure before the harddrive totally crapped out so I was able to backup. For $10 Seagate sends out another hardrive 2 day air and provides return postage for the old drive to send back. Not a bad deal.
Summary: Great price. Good discs. I used them to replace my existing 6 yr old discs in office computers. I used the Acronis copy software and make disc copies and let the new disks continue and removed and saved the old discs( in case need to re clone)
Summary: I've heard seagate drives fail a lot. I've been using this drive for about two months now and haven't had any issues with it. Speed is good and it's fairly quiet, even in my average rating case.
