Summary: This the the crap Seagate drive that has been failing. Mine lasted 2 months and it was gone. Don't expect a lot of help from Seagate. They claim its just a firmware problem but that doesn't seem to be the case. There are plenty of other hard drives out there. - don't waste your money on Seagate. The are probably trying to dump them all and hoping for the best.
A fast and reliable drive that has worked well for me!

Summary: I own over 50 hard drives and 99.9% of them are Seagate. I own several of this model and as my drives need to be replaced I use a SATA Revision 3 drive if my drive controller can use that protocol. I like the additional speed that you can get using the 6 Gb/s rate of the newer SATA interface. I have not had one problem with these drives and the writing speed is phenomenal when compared to SATA II.
Summary: Purchased this item after reading complimentary reviews and taken by the price. Used it to replace a generic drive which was on its last legs after 4 years. Used CrystalDiscInfo to establish the limited lifespan of the former which was running at 38 to 40 degrees and about to crash/die. This one fitted into the system well, runs quietly and lives up to its complimentary reviews. Well pleased.
Summary: Excellent product. Works like a dream. I thought installing might prove awkward but I found Seagate's website to be extremely useful. There's a web address help link to it printed on the hard drive casing. It made the task of installing easy, especially using the Windows procedures for formatting/partitioning etc.
