Summary: Seagate drives fail, they fail often and they fail hard. They have worse reliability than floppy disks (yeah I'm that old). Bottomline, I've had 7 out of 10 drives fail within a *single year*. Purchased October 23, 2013. All failed in the months leading to Sept 2014.
Summary: I have used Seagate drives for 10+ years.Never had one fail on me until I made the mistake of purchasing a Green drive. The first one failed in under 6 months and the replacement failed in 3 months.I have a 1tb Seagate Barracuda and it has 18,000 hrs on it and its still going strong.
Summary: I used this in my desktop for just over 2 years before it died. Fortunately, I set up RAID1 a couple of months ago. The current warranty is 3 years but I guess it was just 2 when I bought it. It was a good drive when it worked but it should have worked for a few more years..
Summary: Ordered two of these drives to replace older model drives in a Seagate Blackarmor NAS for a client of mine. We were expecting everything to work out without a hitch given these were brand new. Not so. One was DOA causing the array to become unresponsive. Where's the QA?
Summary: Seagate makes the best drives, and this one served it's purpose. It holds all my data and keeps it secure. I love the S.M.A.R.T drive feature that lets you know if your drive is going to fail. A great addition to any computer.
