SanDisk Extreme SSD 240GB Review
28 September 2012
Summary: Its random performance is classic SandForce territory too—heavily optimized for high-queue-depth 4KB random writes, with over 90,000 IOPS at a queue depth of 32. There aren’t any surprises with the SanDisk Extreme SSD, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s fast, inexpensive (just over $1/GB at this writing), and based on a proven platform. You really can’t go wrong.
Pros: A fast, inexpensive, but fairly standard SF-2281 drive.
Conclusion: The SanDisk Extreme 120GB is a very versatile and capable performer, with some surprisingly fast speeds for a 120GB drive. While it suffers in the 4K read and write speeds a little, we found that in daily usage everything went just as smoothly as in our testbed Kingston 240GB HyperX SSD, as was proven with the PCMark 7 overall usability benchmark.
