Summary: Samsung used to have a good reputation and good quality. I guess while they were shopping around for someone to buy the HDD division, they got lazy and didn't care about quality any more...
Pros: While it lasted, the drive ran fast and quiet. Was a great price for it (hmm, maybe you get what you pay for??) but for it being in a laptop that stays in the house and is used about 3 times a week, it is disappointing that it is failing.
Cons: Unreliable - sure, it has a 3 year warranty, but try to get it replaced! I would expect a laptop drive that isn't used daily and doesn't travel to last a little longer than 15 months. Samsung sold their HDD unit to Seagate, lock, stock and barrel in April of 2011. When you go to samsunghdd.com, y...
Summary: Great replacement drive for mainstream laptop computers. It's performance is somewhat higher than most factory installed ones have. My friend is happy with this drive in his laptop, even though I recommended something a little faster.
Cons: The hard drive failed after 3 months. Samsung is selling their hard drive line to Seagate and told me that I can't get an RMA number to initiate the return for two weeks. In summary, Samsung sells bad products and has the worst customer support I've ever experienced.
Summary: Windows booted up faster, drive seemed quicker to load videos/music. Drive is quiet compared to the original 5400 rpm drive.
Pros: Fast drive for under 50 dollars. I was a little hesitant to buy from samsung. I thought I would give them a chance. I was not dissapointed. It seems to perform just as well as the other brands I have used.
Cons: It was not a retail box drive. However, it did come double boxed in a nice suspension device. Very close to how the retail boxes are holding the drive. 3 year warranty.
