Summary: 2.5inch drives have several benefits despite their higher price: apart from the compatibility; that is, you can put a 2.5" in a desktop or a laptop but you cant put a 3.5" in a laptop. they are also Alot quieter than 3.5" counterparts They also heat up less They are also sometimes faster and more reliable (This is just a theory).
Pros: Yeah, you gotta be a nerd when the first gift you buy your gf is a hard drive to replace the failing one in her Macbook. Got her this, then broke up with her and never got the chance to give it to her. It ended up in a workstation computer where it has remained for over a year. This thing is FAST. It breathed new life into a VERY old computer (very old by my standards [P4 130nm]). Nearly silent if not silent (very subjective but I have pretty tuned hearing). Works aft...
Cons: Not a winning lottery ticket. The photos can be a bit deceiving but if you look closely, youll notice the metal casing and the sata connector. hopefully you wont make the same mistake i made and drive this over to the Lotto committee 500 miles away to claim your prize.
Cons: I keep a couple of drive on hand for customers. Had this one over 30 days so Newegg will not take it back. This drive is not on their website to do an RMA. I called the 800 # and the only way to contact SAMJUNK is to EMAIL them at email@example.com. This is the worse customer service I ever seen. Buy WDC or Seagate at least you can contact them!
