Read about the life cycle and compare before purchasing, this one is low on the list.

Summary: After purchasing as a replacement for a drive (exact match) went bad, I read that these drives have a terrible life cycle. They have a failure rate in the 25% after 2 years, my other exact drive failed with light use after just a year and a half.
Summary: One of the 3 drives I ordered was DOA (dead on arrival). I could not format the other two in my new Mac Pro (mid 2010) with Lion. It kept saying that it could not unmount the drives. I told the seller (Platinum Micro, Inc.) the situation and that I wanted to return them.
Summary: The hardware on this drive is pretty good, but the software and service are a mess. The drive was released with a serious bug in the firmware. OK, it happens. But their implementation has a couple big problems: (1) Rather than creating a burnable ISO, they just offer an executable file - you have to...
Summary: These drives have rave reviews, hence the reason why i ordered them. One of the reasons i ordered this drive was because it states a 3 year warranty. Summary: Not sure what batch the reviewer had with the Synology NAS drive, but my DSM said these drives had to have their firmware updated. Can't be done in a NAS box, you need to attach to PC via SATA using IDE legacy, boot with a disk ( USB/Floppy etc.
Summary: I purchased 2 of these drives to put into a NAS devise. They work fine, but are noisy. Fine for a server room, but not something you would want in your living room. The thing I didn't consider until I had them delivered is that you can't install the recomended firmware update for use in a NAS devise...
Summary: Initially I had a nightmare with this hard drive. I encountered issues that I had never seen before with a hard disc - loading data seemed fine but I encountered real problems with computer freezes and lockups when trying to access the stored data. Files could not be moved, deleted or renamed.

Summary: Cant yet comment on how good or not this product is and whether it works as unfortunately I am having to return. 2 hard discs were poorly packaged with one small piece or brown paper attempting (and failing to) stop them rattling around in the box To compound this delivery firm decided to leave...
Summary: Be careful buying these drives! I've just bought 2 of these and checked their serial number on the Samsung site to see what warranty they have. It said, for both drives, "The product has been brought in from outside of this service region and cannot be serviced.
