Summary: Back up your storage drive?
Pros: 2tb for a good price
Cons: Bought 9/20/2011 as a secondary storage drive. Barely boot up the computer. Died 9/3/2015 while adding my music to iCloud library. The disk still spins up. Buying a replacement board to recover my data. Thing is that the replacement boards are $50.
Unfortunately, these are no longer the drives they once were.

Summary: Item's a dud. My initial purchase of this HDD (Also a Samsung Spinpoint with the exact same label) worked absolutely perfectly, and 3 years of near nonstop use later as my main HDD, it works fine.
Pros: Low power, adequate performance, price, and size when bought
Cons: Like the title seaz- I bought two, and am retiring them both after 2 yrs. Of course, the warranty was for only ONE. Silly me. At least I had all data backed up elsewhere. No more cheeeep drives for me. These are great as door stoppers or toys for the kids to explore/destroy :)
Fine when I bought it - but has a firmware glitch that can be a killer - I think it has been discontinued

Summary: A Firmware glitch can cause the drive to write bad blocks which will kill your data. There IS a patch - but no way to tell if the patch has been applied - because the patch does not update the reported firmware VERSION !!
Summary: I use my media drive much more than the gaming one so I would've expected that one to go first, but either way I was hoping to get at least 2 -3 years out of both.
Pros: 2 TB! They were a great price when I originally bought them 5/2011.
Cons: I bought 2 of these drives in May of 2011, and have been using them quite a bit. 1 drive is strictly for my media (TV recording, movie storage, pics, music, etc..) and the other drive was used strictly for games. The game drive failed on me just recently (out of the 1 year limited warranty period...
Summary: Considering I used to keep my computer on nearly 24/7 & and still do keep it on for a few days without shutting it off, I assume the drive just got overused. Running defrags & virus scans almost every night probably didn't help, either. I bought Samsung based on a suggestion from a friend.
Pros: Good capacity for the price when I bought it about a year ago.
Cons: Not the most reliable drive, not good for heavy users. I bought this drive a little over a year ago & decided to do a scandisk today when I was unable to defrag it after redownloading all my Steam games. Turned out that I had a bunch of bad sectors & this was keeping me from defragging it.
